I know this has been going around much, but I couldn't resist blogging about it. One, because I'm from Cebu and two, because I work closely with human rights and detention centers.

It is amusing to see these people given an avenue to showcase their talents, but in some way, I feel bad for the people who were actually forced to participate by wearing women's habits and acting as nuns. I bet the mayores or gang leader did quite a number with this. This is what we call in international law as "Cruel, Inhumane and Degrading Punishment or Treatment amounting or approximating Torture"... hehe.

This is a very cool post. Thanks to the dude/lady to made this video at the first instance. Good job.

Personally, I think that after having to go through shit like this, all these guys should be set free. Consider this parole for extreme cooperation and good behavior.

Cebu, Philippines – Independent artists, the world over, are frustrated that major labels rule the airwaves because of money and power. These findings are gleaned from the ongoing debate heard on the weekly radio show “Fame Games,” hosted by the Indie Label, Mere Music International.

“Fame Games gives hope to unsigned bands and artists by featuring and critiquing their original music and discussing topics relevant to anyone trying to crack the music business.” says host of “Fame Games” and singer/songwriter, Laura Krier. Episodes of “Fame Games” are broadcast from Southern Europe on OCI 101.6 FM and 94.6 FM every Wednesday and Saturday and are now available every day on-demand from the MMI website at www.meermusic.com/famegames.htm.

Indie rock band, Sundown Caffeine from Cebu City, Philippines will be one of the artists appearing on this week’s show. Featured on the Internet and with fans from across the globe, Sundown Caffeine is excited about the exposure that the radio promotion will bring.

Vocalist and Rhythm Guitarist, MRD says, “It’s a tough world for independent artists out there. It’s hard enough that you have to pump your personal savings into a project, getting exposure through radio play is even more so. Most radio stations allow airtime only for signed artists, leaving out a huge mass of unrecognized talent in artistic limbo.”

Bryan Farrish, an Independent radio promoter in California confirms this, “$30K would be a minimum to get charting and spinning in the smaller markets. Keep in mind that all of these costs are radio-only; they do not include any recording costs, manufacturing, printed media, retail, booking or video promotion.”

Sundown Caffeine has been together since 2004 but is taking a hiatus from performing live due to personal reasons. They have been featured on radio programs like KillRadio’s Hear Here Radio Show in California and Podcasts like The Weekly Showcase in the UK.

“People always ask us what is the message we’re trying to get across in our music, and I guess the thing that stands out the most to me is that ‘we are all human'. Our music expresses, without judgment, very real human emotions and experiences." says drummer, Yanix.

"We do not consider our songs exclusively our own. Their origins and back stories do not matter as the personal meaning they offer to each listener. Every single song we write, every single song we play has a different but completely human message. Our songs revolve around universal themes like heartache, frustration, anger, temptation, desire and fear.” says MRD.

“We try to always send a positive message in our music by emphasizing that the bottom line is human triumph over any obstacle, real or imagined" says lead guitarist, Jarm.

Sundown Caffeine also believe in giving back to the community, two of its members MRD and Dax are fervent human rights advocates. Dax is a lawyer while MRD is finishing law school and they both serve as legal assistants to NGO’s during their spare time.

I just couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this detergent bar at the supermarket checkout.

Check this out: the person designing the packaging had the balls to announce that this particular brand of detergent (with Fabric Softener) is good for whites and coloreds. How about Hispanics and Asians like me, m*th*rf*ck*r?!?!?

WTF?!?!? Who uses the word coloreds in the 21st century? The idiot who did the packaging does, and I'm here to tell him he's a bleeding idiot.

Not only is this detergent racist, it's insulting to one's intelligence, to boot. It proudly claims that it has fabric softener included in the packed detergent, to make your clothes smell better.

I don't know about you, but from my use of fabric softener, it's primary use isn't to perfume your clothes. Also, since there's more fabric softener here than in other detergent bars (read: none), you get less bang for your buck per bar of laundry soap.

Last I remember, we use laundry soap in this country to wash dishes. What good is fabric softener in dish washing? At least your plates smell like they've been hung out to dry in some verdant meadow. Sheesh.

And they had the gall to rename the brand "advanced". Over what? The old bar, which they marketed as the cheap alternative to Tide? Maybe the word "advanced" makes people think that they're actually spending money on something chemists spend oodles of time over. These chemical engineers might actually have spent time and money on your laundry soap, but I'm betting it's spent on how to rip the consumer off more than these companies already have.

With some 7,000 tropical islands, the Philippines counts itself among the most beautiful countries in the world. But tourism has barely developed, as a result of the ailing economy, the enormous social inequality and the ever-present poverty in the country. The adventurous traveller however will find himself in Paradise: deserted, snow-white Bounty beaches, uncountable diving opportunities and a generous and friendly population. At the moment a strong ‘war on drugs’ is being waged. But it is a public secret that a large part of the population smokes a joint regularly. Highlife’s Charlie Stone brings us this report from the scene.

The Philippines

Anyone taking a look at the Filipino daily newspapers could not fail to conclude that ‘drugs’ are Enemy of the State number 1. Which is quite remarkable for a country where the majority of the population still lives under the poverty line and where a handful of stinking rich families still own everything. Communist guerrillas and Islamic separatist movements are active on a daily basis, but the columnists of the daily press only seem to have eyes for the drugs plague sweeping across the land. In editorial commentaries heavy crackdowns are insisted upon and on TV and radio they point incessantly to the ‘devastation’ caused by drugs. One effect of this is that ever more forces and individuals feel themselves actually involved in the Filipino ‘war on drugs’, with violent consequences.

In this way the PSG, the paramilitary bodyguard of the President, threw themselves into the battle. This Presidential Security Group took part in Manila in a combined police operation. At one person’s home, accused of links to the drugs Mafia, a bust took place. Due to poor coordination, the PSG and the police did not work in tandem, and when the smoke had settled after the raid, it became clear that the seven-year-old daughter of the accused had been shot dead. The guilty members of the PSG were immediately placed under protection from high up. Just one small example of how the war on drugs looks in the Philippines…

Another example occurred simultaneously in Ermita, one of the 17 districts of the Manila metropolitan area. There, Mayor Lim – nicknamed Dirty Harry – painted the doors of suspected drug dealers red as a warning. The Mayor did not stand alone in this remarkable action: police, barangays (a sort of armed civilian security force) and watchful citizens supported him in his crusade against the accused, and in the media he was held up as a hero. Only when one of the accused sought the assistance of a human rights organisation were question marks raised about the action. Didn’t it go too far to publicly tie a suspect to the whipping post like this? Those opposed to it were very much in the minority.

The lack of opposition is not so strange when one considers that 80% of the Filipino population are confirmed Catholics (the Pope, in contrast to much of the rest of the world, is unbelievably popular there), and another 10% are devout Christians. Not people one associates with criticising authority, in short. Lim, with one hand on the Bible and another on his pistol, was praised to the skies by the population.

It is clear that a debate about the drugs situation is not on the cards. However, I do want to learn more about marijuana and smoking in the Philippines. Even though I read to my horror several times of huge jail sentences being handed out for merely being caught smoking a joint.

“Look, in the media and from the authorities you get a strongly anti-drugs message, but among the general population there is a general tolerance of smoking a weed joint,” says Johnny, a Hawaiian who has lived for years in the Philippines. “Just as long as you stay off the shabu, most people think.”

Johnny (32) and his Filipino mate Marty (26) come from Baguio, on the largest, northerly main island of Luzon. Johnny has an American father and a Filipino mother, and has lived for years in the United States. For the last eight years or so he has been back in the Philippines, where he makes ends meet as a sort of hustler. Together with Marty, a trike-driver (motorbike taxi chauffeur), he occasionally sorts out some marijuana for locals or tourists. Neither of the two friends are exactly unfamiliar with the dope scene on the island.

Sometimes the two spend some time in the fields near Baguio or Pangasinan where most of the marijuana in the country comes from. The farmers secrete their marijuana plots among the large maize and rice fields. The world famous rice terraces of Banaue are also often used for marijuana production. (These terraces are often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”: they were hacked 2000 years ago into the mountain slopes by a local mountain tribe. The terraces have been used uninterrupted since then for rice growing). The harvest that comes from here is sent abroad as well as supplying the national market. The crap stays here and the good stuff is for export.

“Do the farmers around Baguio rely on weed for the main income?” I ask the two guys in-the-know. Johnny: “No, it is purely a side-earner, a bit of cash to top up their meagre incomes. The local police and the army know all about it; they ‘protect’ the fields even, at least for a fee.”

Marty: “Often, farmers who are not growing weed will have their land confiscated by local council officials, or put them under pressure to grow too, so that the officials can get their slice of the action. You have to realise, this is one of the most corrupt countries in the world…”

Growing

Johnny: “The marijuana in the fields is divided up even while it’s growing into that destined for the home market and that that will be exported. The ‘export’ plants are treated with extra care, that is to say, the farmers come and visit more often to take off double or sick branches. They grow Indicas as well as Sativas here. The Indicas are for export, the Sativas for local use. The plant seeds are carefully collected for sowing later. No-one works with clones or anything like that. The Indicas are also allowed to grow for the whole year, that’s to say ten months, and during the last blooming period all the leaves are trimmed off the branches. Then all you see is plants with buds, no leaves. In this way the farmers get heavier buds and therefore a better harvest. Once they actually have to be harvested, their watering is stopped, and the plants are left another month to grow. By then the buds are purple. During this process the buds pump out THC while sucking all the water out of the branches, to the extent that when you come to harvest the buds you can just snap the branches off. The buds though are still moist.

“The drying takes place in small huts with ventilators in them, or the buds are simply put in oblong cardboard boxes. What also happens often is that the buds are put in long bamboo poles to dry.

“Baguio and the surrounding district is a natural greenhouse; the climatic circumstances for growing marijuana are almost perfect. Almost everything else is grown that can be grown: fruit, vegetables, rice and ornamental plants.”

Johnny and Marty are obviously well up to scratch. How do things stand with hashish? Is that also produced and smoked? “Hash is not really popular here,” says Marty. “Actually, it is only foreigners that make it and smoke it. They are also the only people in the Philippines who grow indoors. Although on this island there is a local tribe, the Igurot, and they do make it sometimes. Their hash looks most like Red Lebanon. They don’t smoke the hash but eat it, making a sort of hash brownie out of it.”

And what about prices?

Marty: “You buy weed here in bags, boxes or sacks. Or by the joint, that is also possible. But mostly the sale is by the kilo. You buy it locally here for about US$100 a kilo. A 50 gram slab of hashish would go for between 500-1000 dollars.”

Johnny: “OK, a single joint costs between 5-10 pesos (about 10p). A gram bag will cost about 20 pesos (about 30p). A hundred grams goes for about 200 pesos (three quid), 250 grams for 600 pesos (nine quid). A half kilo is 1000 peso (25 quid) and a kilo for between 2500-4000 peso (100 quid tops). When the American military was still here the prices were a lot cheaper, and the quality was ten times better. (Until 1992 there was an enormous US military presence on the Philippines, in the form of an airforce base and a naval port – CS). In the areas where Americans lived you saw significantly fewer police, and so doing business was significantly easier.”

What types of marijuana are sold?

Marty: “By far the best weed you can score is Buntot Pusa, which means ‘Cat’s Tail’. Besides that the most popular is a medium-quality weed variety, Baguio Gold. Then you have Lagkitan, which means ‘Sticky’ and Violet, a purple weed. These are the most common types.

Does much smoking take place in this Catholic country?

Johnny: “I estimate that a good 50% of the population, young or old, light up a joint regularly. Smoking is here a sociable thing; it takes place when you visit friends, if there’s a party at someone’s place, or if you’re hanging out with friends. That takes nothing away from the fact that it all takes place underground and in great secrecy. Smoking in public or where there are strangers you just don’t do here. It’s just asking for problems.”

Smoking techniques

Marty: “King size papers do not exist here, nor are they sold anywhere. People smoke pure grass in self-made skins made from thin papers, or in a pipe. What you often see is smoking out of home-made bamboo pipes.”

Johnny: “Young kids tend to tear the foil out of a cigarette packet and roll that into a tube and bend one end upwards into an improvised pipe. They just stick some finely crumbled weed into the uppermost end. We’re talking again about smoking pure.”

Marty: “Smoking paraphernalia such as bongs and water pipes are not available here. Sometimes foreign tourists bring one along, but in general you never see those sort of things.”

What happens if the worst case scenario happens and you get caught? Johnny: “In 99% of the cases you can buy yourself freedom immediately by bribing the cop who caught you. The authors tested a number of drugs at various doses and found that in addition to L-DOPA-related treatments, drugs related to amphetamine were effective in ameliorating muscle rigidity, tremor, and impaired movement in these mice. Most effective was methylenedioxymethamphetamine HCl (MDMA), commonly known as ecstasy.

Future work will be required to understand how MDMA was able to ameliorate the symptoms of Parkinson's in these mice and to assess the toxicity of MDMA and related compounds in greater detail in the future. Working for a small company and travelling with bosses who treat you more like family rather than an employee is not a bed of roses. Don't get me wrong. My bosses are wonderful people and our company is doing great work. But man! I can't stand the lifestyle they are imposing upon me. They are fanatic health buffs who want to change the world.

Everytime we get together they lecture on the evils of materialism and vices. Do you have any idea how frustrating it is for me to bite my tongue, smile and pretend to agree? I admire and respect their beliefs and lifestyle but what I don't like is the fact that they are forcing me to be like them. I am their employee not their errant daughter. What I do during my free time should be no concern to my employer. But it's not true in my case. I feel I have to conform. Imagine me ordering Bloody Mary and smoking during dinner with my bosses while they are discussing the stupidity of smokers and drinkers?!?

I want to enjoy being young and doing stupid things. I read somewhere that all
mistakes you make are excused if you are under 25. So that means I have one more year left. The clock is ticking. I will reform. Trust me I will. I will do stuff in moderation and try to contribute to society. But the question of when and how is my choice and my decision. It's okay for other people to influence me or even persuade me but not force me. But it's a different ballgame at work. Sometimes submitting your programming assignments is not enough. Sometimes, just sometimes, conformity with the work culture and philosophy is required.

Why can't my bosses be like the other super nerds I met at the Geek Conf at Stanford who play at rock bands, smoke as if there is no tomorrow and drink beer at noon yet still manage to create software? Why? I tell you why. Because there is no such thing as a perfect job. I have a wonderful, creative challenging job that requires me to be a health buff for at least 2 months in a year. And in return, I get my perks. It's a good deal. And so I should stop my bratty bitching now and try to be a freaking adult and go to the gym with my boss to do our daily brainstorming sessions.

I've been reading the tarot for about six or seven years now. I started out with a deck I got based on my favorite RPG of all time, Mage: the Ascension (and now I've marked myself out as a complete geek), later got one done by Dave McKean of Sandman cover art fame, and actually took a Greek Myth-type deck from someone who was reporting 'strange phenomena' around it. Yes, I performed a banishing rite on them. No, don't ask me how.

The trouble is, not only do I tire out quickly doing the readings, but I also end up knowing probably too much for my own good. While I do admit a guilty sort of mad glee when I deliver bad news to people who need a wakeup call, it's a little more difficult delivering the same kind of bad news to people you don't want to burden with the knowledge. Sometimes I feel like lying about what the cards say, but I've never done it. It doesn't strike me as natural to make stuff up when the story's lying in front of you.

So I end up in sort of a privileged-communication type of fiduciary relationship with many of the people I read for. I have had more than ten times the amount of vicarious living most people probably should have.

It's all right though, I happen to like it. It's just overwhelming at times. I came close to quitting doing readings a few times, when I started to feel burdened by the knowledge of things I'd read. But considering my life seems to be one committed to 1) consuming more and more knowledge and 2) fixing things, I know better than to leave this behind. I just have to learn to deal with it better, I think.

But I probably need a break anyway.

Funny. In our jurisdiction, one of the rights this new star lawyer espoused - the right of an accused to cross-examine witnesses brought in to testify against him, is one of the more fundamental provisions of Rule 119.

CNN.com reported:

In Crawford (vs. Washington), the Supreme Court in March agreed with Fisher and ruled that defendants have a constitutional right to cross-examine witnesses used against them in trial.

In practice, the right to cross-examine witnesses brought to testify against an accused isn't exercised as well as one would hope. As some Bugoys know, I sat through an hour of testimony by a police officer in a drugs case in the Pasig RTC. The police officer's testimony, like many before his, was so riddled with holes that it was easy to discredit (so much for the presumption of regularity). The PAO lawyer who used to sit in that court hardly lifted a finger to defend her clients. The current lawyer, however, as a result of his human rights experience (he used to work closely and in coordination with the AHRC on several HR cases) is a different story: his litigation skills got the judge to openly berate the testifying officer and have his testimony stricken from the record.

You could tell that the people being prosecuted in the Dangerous Drugs Court are but small fry in the drugs picture.

I got stuck in a room filled with people who may or may not have had to lie, cheat, and steal just to support their habits (see the inq7.net story on cellular phone theft), but so what? That's what we signed on for. Those guys will one day be our clients.

That they lie, cheat, and steal for their addictions doesn't make them all that different from us, I think. Although we don't have tattoos of flying dragons and gang signs on our biceps, our tattoos are smaller, in more discreet places.

Today, our Crimpro prof had to dismiss our class early. Unfortunately (or fortunately) he paced the class as if we would go the full 2 hours. So when he had 20 minutes left, he looked down and realized we had 7 cases to go through and 5 minutes to do it in.

He called me on case #2. I knew it well, and recited on it -- for one minute. Then he let me sit down and called someone else on another case.

On one hand, it's cool that I wasn't so, what's the word, grilled this time around. I didn't even have the chance to get the altitude sickness associated with standing up for recitation for long periods of time.

On the other hand, imagine if all the profs held 1 minute recits every day. That would mean they could theoretically call 60 students in an hour. That would mean, in a 2 hour class composed of 40 students, you would be called 3 times. Brrr. Not a pleasant thought.

Back in the early 90's, an interesting phenomenon took place among Manila's schools. Backlash against the vilification of the brainless colegiala began to take root in popular culture (read: the joke got tired) and the idea of the brainless coño boy began to float.

Like wow, paaare.

It didn't help that products of these exclusive schools had a more distinct accent compared to products of others where diction is less of a priority than say, determining the discriminant of any quadratic function. These boys slurred their R's, pronounced their schwas, and spoke in a manner both derisive and insulting.

It should be no surprise that someone will eventually create a running joke about boys like these, those into the manor born, they who live the Country Club life, and into whose ears the secrets and passwords to the country's wealth and power are whispered. In fact, Smart has had a ring back feature parodying this very cultural phenomenon.

However, people who've lampooned this sorry state of affairs in print are few and far between. Of late, bloggers like caffeine rush have been using the Internet to produce one of the most hilarious takes on the subject. For me, it is his irreverence and flair for the local that has gained him quite a following (read: his online persona is not only an airhead, but is also quite tactless). In fact, his post, kadiri kaya yung fete has generated around 187 comments as of this posting, some of them flattering, and some not so. In his blog, he makes an effective satire of the Starbucks-worshipping, class-splitting, self-absorbed coño crowd.

I've heard of a local showbiz couple whose twin offsprings are artificially induced.

Fertility drugs (such as Clomid), which are used to stimulate ovulation, have also been shown to result in multiple births (source). So with all the talks about the ethics of human cloning, why doesn't this topic share the limelight?

I have never actually started out with any group whatsoever by being in the core. I tend to worm my way in, if I can be arsed to.

Oh, there I go again with the gruff I-cant-be-arsed routine. Can it, alchemical, these people know better by now. Anyway, I only end up worming my way into a group if I want to. If I care to.

The clique I belonged to in High School, an extremely geeky but hip group of computer-hacking trash-talking band members, was rather inanely called ACT, or the Association of Computer Terrorists (a name I cringe at to this very day, even though I didn't name it myself). We had the dubious distinction of having smashed a guitar during a performance in front of a nun, mostly done to distract the audience from realizing that we had no guitar solo. Or distortion on our guitars, for that matter. At any rate, we all had this 'we-too-cool-and-too-smart-for-school' image going, even toward each other, but when things got rough we were all there to slap each others' back and give a gruff "Okay lang yan, tangina mo". You know, stupid generic guy things to say and do when what you mean to say is "We love you man and we'll see you through this".

I have a point, wait for it.

During my birthday party last year, my girlfriend probably unwisely told a whole bunch of you that I am an acquired taste. That I grow on people like a fungus. A fungus. Jeezus. At least I'm not a rash or a tumor.

So yes. I project a 'Keep Away' persona mostly for protection purposes. But little do people know that I am sending out my spores, wondering if they'll flourish and grow in, uh, your crap.

Oh well. Not the prettiest or most fragrant metaphor, but it works.

Blogging = Confession

I don't know why I say so much when I blog. I blog about more things than I would dream of saying to people face to face. Perhaps it's because I don't have to see the people I'm talking to face to face. Sort of like being in a confessional, except of course that wicker screen separating you from the priest isn't fooling anyone, you can tell it's Father So-and-So and he's about to tailor the penance and absolution to who you are, because he knows who you are, where you live, and what your parents' names are.

For example, I appear to be more forthcoming when expressing my affection online. This is, as lastboyonearth would say, evidence of me being a closet softie.

...ahem, anyway.

It's probably because I've been typing away at some form of journal since way before Doogie Howser started chronicling his inane insights in glorious white-on-blue, 80x25. Which means I've been typing away at a computer since grade school. Christ-on-a-bike that's a long time.

When you've been putting your thoughts on magnetic media and phosphor as long as I have, you being to feel a rapport with the computer, as if you could simply beam your thoughts over through your fingers. Actually it's not really that easy. Language is a bitch, and that's despite the fact that I'm a Creative Writing graduate. Some days you just forget one key word and it screws up the whole process. "What's that word for... that thing when you... when you... ARGH!" Write around the word and move on, and toss around in your sleep for losing yet another piece of your vocabulary to systematic chemical and physical abuse of your neurons.

So I suppose the only way to get me to spill the beans about anything is to ask me to tell you while I'm by typing it out. Actually, getting me drunk or drugging me works too. Wait, what was the point of this post then?

I think the title of this post should have been Blogging = Rambling while putting off reading Sales cases.

Battle Royale

Well, 2 weeks after JR lent me the DVD, I've finally watched Battle Royale.

For those of you who don't know, the premise of the story is that since Japan's unemployment rate reached a shocking 15% (I know, we only have a 10.1% unemployment rate here, so that's bad), and since 800,000 students boycotted school, Japan's parliament enacted the BR Act, which means that every now and then, a lucky class determined by impartial lottery gets sent to an abandoned island (not a desert island, since it appears to have everything from abandoned vehicles, to a clinic, and a warehouse in it) and, wearing collars set to explode if there is no winner in 3 days or if they try to remove them, they have to kill each other until only one student is left.

Kooky, but par for the course in Japanese cinema. And it's a wild ride as long as you turn your brains off. There is some attempt at characterization here and there, some effective, some not (the jogging scene was... uh). Actually a particularly effective scene plays itself out in the lighthouse... and I won't spoil it for the rest of you. Suffice it to say there's a lot of blood, a lot of violence, and a lot of Japanese captions a la Evangelion that drive certain pieces of dialogue home.

The thing that really struck me about the movie, though, is at the very end, during the basketball game flashback, where during happier times, the class wins some sort of championship.

The scene was entitled "Requiem: Class B (Friends)".

Lost Student

It's 430am. I haven't read a single case for crimpro. I haven't said my daily Ramadan prayers for Nego. I am just blogging away. Such is the life of a lost law student.

I am in this state, particulary every 2nd week of the month. If I could look at the class cards of my profs since first year, I will bet good money that most of my absences are in the 2nd week of the month! No matter how much I sleep or how much I eat or how much recreation I get, I still do not study. Am I tired? Am I bored? Am I just lazy?

To illustrate: Yesterday, I had complete digests and reviewers. I had time to study since I finished work early. But I cut the whole day for no particular reason. I just surfed the net. Took exams ( internet exams! will post the more interesting ones later) , attended class (my dancing class) and had coffee with a fellow wannabe-geek.

I am seriously thinking of cutting my crim pro and nego class later... Hmm.. Does stomach flu sound convincing? I hope I get my "law school is fun" mentality back really soon... DUH!

Misadventures of an Out-of-School Bugoy

Getting out of law school has made me face my greatest fear: Failure. As I am cleaning up after the mess I enthusiastically created for myself, I learn each day how life can be so f*cking amusing sometimes.

Last week, I was running late for a job offer at Globe Telecom located along Pioneer Avenue. To make matters worse, the whole of Shaw Boulevard was congested with cars and jeeps with passengers who were probably running late as well. Instead of joining them, I decided to park my car at the Metrobank branch along Shaw, and commute to Globe.

I went out of my car and ran as fast as I could in my 2-and-a-half-inch-heeled boots toward the jeepney stop. Mr. Metrobank Security Guard decided to make my day more interesting by blowing his whistle at me. (Parking is available only for Metrobank clients blah blah). I said I’d be back in 15 minutes and he let me go.

So I crossed Shaw and made para the first jeepney I saw. (Did you know that jeepney fare is P5?!). After paying the fare, I noticed that instead of going straight along Pioneer, the driver took a right turn! I shouted, “Wait! Dadaan ba ‘tong Globe?” All the passengers looked at me as if I were the childhood they were all trying so hard to forget. Since they were so darn helpful, I told the driver I’ll just transfer jeepneys at the next intersection. Rather than riding another jeep, I took a 3-minute-50-peso taxi ride.

I eventually got there, and was offered a job. =)

After the class, out of sheer self-preservation, vetoes the petition to impeach unprofessional love-addled professor, supra, riddle the evaluation form of that aforementioned professor with 1s out of a scale of 10, and add a novelette-sized entry telling him how to do his job?

Me neither. Some "smart" people are really stupid.
